Life is about process, not stasis. We are processes not things. We constantly change, even when we resist, even when we think we are stuck.
~ Jessica Macbeth, The Faeries Oracle.
The truest thing that I have ever read about depression is that it tells you lies. And I think the most harmful of those lies is that it is going to go on forever (Not the illness I mean, the feelings of despair and hopelessness and emptiness…and well, if you have been there you know what I am talking about, and if you have not there is no way that I can adequately describe what happens so that you can begin to understand it).
But, it helps to remember that we are processes…and that there will be rainbows. We just need to look through the storm. And remember that we do have the strength to do so…of course, that one is much easier said than done.
I think recovering from depression is less about achievements and tangible deeds and more about which way you are facing…Choosing to face forward and take those first steps towards life which will hopefully lead to a dance.
